Northwell Health Department of Medicine seeks a program director for its combined Geriatrics fellowship for North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The ideal candidate should be a Board Certified Geriatrician with at least 5 years post training and have an interest in educating fellows, residents and medical students. This is an exciting time to join our team as the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and the Department of Medicine continue to develop and grow throughout Northwell Health.
The position comes with a faculty appointment at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Teaching responsibilities include both didactic and clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty members of the Division take part in the specialized medical care of patients across the health care continuum. The selected candidate will work to create innovative educational experiences in partnership with other stakeholders in the training of individuals caring for a growing aging population. Responsibilities include scheduling (or overseeing scheduling) of fellows, residents and/or medical students on teaching rotations including mentoring, teaching, evaluating, and recruiting fellows, residents and medical students.
Less than a decade old, the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell has already received accolades as one of the most innovative training centers in the country. Northwell Health is one of the largest health systems in the country, comprising 23 hospitals, over 61,000 employees, and 3,600 physicians, and is world-renowned for its visionary and caring approach to healthcare. Strategic alliances with the Cleveland Clinic, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and others, extend the system's reach. A short walk from North Shore University Hospital is the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, one of the nation’s top biomedical research facilities. The scope, size, and diversity of the health system help to create a rich set of opportunities.
