Cleveland Clinic, a distinguished academic healthcare system, announces its search for the Department Chair of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, a flagship program in our health system located in Northeast Ohio.
The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition is one of three Departments within the Digestive Disease & Surgery Institute (DDSI). The Department collaborates daily with the other two DDSI Departments, Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery. The DDSI mission is to be the international leader in medical and surgical treatment of digestive and surgical disease by providing the highest quality clinical care, research and education. The DDSI is currently ranked 3rd in U.S. News and World Report for Gastroenterology and GI Surgery.
The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition consists of approximately 90 staff physicians, 40 advanced practice providers, 115 registered dietitians and techs, 20 fellows and total FTEs circa 210. The Department is comprised of 10 Sections including Advanced Endoscopy that includes pancreaticobiliary and bariatric endoscopy, General GI, Hepatology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Neurogastroenterology, Nutrition, Swallowing, and a large regional practice in East Region/Consultants in Gastroenterology, West Region/North Ohio Gastroenterology and South Region/Summit Gastroenterology. In addition to offering a Gastroenterology & Hepatology Fellowship the Department offers over seven advanced Fellowship Programs. The Department has a strong academic record with faculty leaders in their respective fields and a large number of annual extramural grants and publications.
Across Northeast Ohio, the Department provides care at eight Cleveland Clinic hospitals and 25 outpatient locations. The Department’s endoscopies are performed at 22 locations across Northeast Ohio including Main Campus, Regional Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgery Centers and Ambulatory Endoscopy Centers. Annual volume data for the Department consists of approximately 95,000 outpatient clinic visits and 81,000 inpatient and outpatient endoscopy procedures.
