The Department of Medicine at Albany Medical College is seeking a Chief to lead our experienced and highly respected Division of General Internal Medicine.
The Division of General Internal Medicine provides clinical care almost exclusively in the outpatient setting, whereas inpatient care in managed by closely-aligned academic hospitalists. The Division has the central role in the Department of Medicine’s undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.
As Chief of the Division, the successful candidate will oversee all activities of this academic unit. The Chief will lead an institutional initiative to increase the number of our medical school graduates and post-graduate trainees who choose a career in ambulatory internal medicine. Working with the program director of our internal medicine residency and the clerkship director for our medical student experience, the Chief will facilitate excellence in UME and GME education. Development of the Division’s scholarly enterprise will be a priority. Operational and fiscal oversight is shared with our professional management team.
The successful candidate will have a track record of clinical practice and educational development in an academic ambulatory environment. Prior management and/or program development experience is desired. It is anticipated that the future Chief will qualify for academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
